CHILD LABOUR
Multiple problems affected the growth of Pakistan and Child labour is one of them. What is child labour
and how the future of every Pakistani is connected to it?
There is a difference between child labour and child work. Child labour is defined as work that is taken from little souls forcefully and this practice makes them a humiliating element in our society. Child work is a process of learning skills that never destroy their life not affect their schooling activities. Characteristics that Provokes Child labour in Pakistan According to International Labour Organisation (lLO), the only reason for child labour is poverty. No doubt poverty is the main reason but there are also many reasons which are ignored. Over population and illiteracy or ignorance are also main reasons because when we notice our surroundings, we came to know that there are different types of people,
selfish but rich if not selfish then they are not enough for needy humans, middle class but with a little amount of money and afraid of becoming poor in future so they are hardly enough for themselves, and then we noticed the type of poor and miserable population. These people are needy and helpless but the main factor is that
they are unfamiliar with the basic rule of life. We are sadly talking about our society, some people are educated but ignorant because they ignore and disrespect poor people, in this way they mistreat them so that the poor are forced to make the education work because they can not fulfil their basic needs properly. They deprive their child of education
And so many dreams. Apart from this, many people willingly prepare their children to work in any area despite educating them and showing some mercy upon growing souls. These are some social problems but many circumstances lead to child labour.
Impacts of Child Labour on our society and new generation in Pakistan No one is serious about this critical situation, child labour should not be ignored because Pakistan is facing a lot of problems. We are facing poverty and illiteracy on a large scale. Child labour distress the mind of growing children and without proper guidance and education, these kids remains priceless for society. They grew up in that poverty and pessimism. Pakistan is an emerging country and almost half of the population is facing poverty and it’s not easy for them to live easy life
so they prefer to make their children work at a very little age. Child labour has become common in almost every country and it is a big disaster for the economy of Pakistan. Child labour is allowed in poorer, and developed countries considered as the violence of human rights. Regardless, child labour is familiar, no one suspects this as a disaster for a new generation of Pakistan. Approximately people of Pakistan are facing a miserable condition in the form of child labour. According to UNICEF in 2003, at the age of fourteen, 8 million children are working as labour and there are more who are not registered as child labour.
They struggle in bricks factories, carpet weaving centres and making domestic products for a little amount of money. Even girls work at the age of 5 to 14 on a large scale in big houses and face difficulties. Sometimes these little hands sweated a lot, despite holding books or dolls. Sometimes while working as labourers they become victims of sudden accidents because of having little experience according to their age. Parents of these children can’t pay attention to them properly and send them for working outside. No doubt these parents are facing poverty and illiteracy but it’s common sense that large families can’t be handled because of their low budget.
How can Pakistan eradicate Child labour? The government of Pakistan enforced numerous laws to stop child labours. However, after all these attempts, the government remains unsuccessful till now and this issue spread in every country in Pakistan. Even this issue is received at the international point, ILO and UNICEF especially participate in eradicating child labour. But there is no improvement in this matter yet. Government can not stop child labour completely until society and especially parents cooperate with them. Parents should not waste their kids by forcing them to work at the age of four to fourteen years. They should keep their child away from this downfall. Overpopulation is also a big reason for poverty and then child labour. These people should be enlightened about the disadvantage of child labour. Large families and poverty are the main causes of child labour.
On the other hand owner of workshops or firms take advantage of poor humanity because they hired their children at a very short payment and destroy them by insulting, beating and shouting at their every action. This cause, children to lose their self-respect and many times they become morally corrupt. The nation can handle it by forcing laws on them but especially owners of any firms should not hire Children for any kind of work. In a nutshell about child labour Slavery, illiteracy, burden, depression and hopelessness make children mentally, physically and morally toxic for themselves as well as for the country. Child labour makes them illiterate and when they grew up by facing grief, they become useless without any fondness for living life. Sometimes they ask for their rights illegally and then society criticises them.
They fall prey to an inferiority complex and consider themselves a burden on society. Child Labour is a cruel act that must be controlled by the Government, society and parents. Everyone has to focus on its pernicious impacts. Child labour can be controlled by educated people, morally, socially and economically. Overpopulation should be monitored by the government as well as families. It would be noted that children are the flowers and the country is like a garden. We can only grow our garden by taking care of the flowers. Although it is real that due to poverty Pakistani children are deprived of basic needs even they are struggling hard for their survival then how can we expect the grooming of a garden without basic requirements.
So it would be possible if any member of this country take it seriously and help the government of Pakistan in stopping child labour.
